We have reached a point in America where the intentional spread of misinformation from the mainstream media is almost to be expected. Journalism is dead, and in its place exists an ongoing effort to not only advance the progressive agenda, but also to discredit and delegitimize President Trump.
Case in point: The phony, left wing newspaper known as The New York Times was recently caught lying about a “sweeping” global warming report in an attempt to smear President Trump, who on several different occasions has been a vocal critic of the left’s climate change narrative.
Last week, The New York Times published a front-page story claiming that they had obtained an unreleased draft of the National Climate Assessment (NCA), the release of which is set for 2018, and that scientists were worried that the report would be suppressed by the Trump administration. There was only one problem – the report had been publicly available since January, meaning that President Trump didn’t withhold any information whatsoever.
The report that The New York Times published was actually the third draft copy of the National Climate Assessment that has been available for review online for over half a year now. Without even acknowledging that they had published old information and called it new, the Times then went ahead and uploaded the real never-before-seen “fifth order draft” of the NCA.
“It’s very disappointing, yet entirely predictable to learn The New York Times would write off a draft report without first verifying its contents with the White House or any of the federal agencies directly involved with climate and environmental policy,” said a White House official speaking to the DCNF. “As others have pointed out – and The New York Times should have noticed – drafts of this report have been published and made widely available online months ago during the public comment period. The White House will withhold comment on any draft before its scheduled release date.”
This is just the latest example of the progressive left lashing out over the fact that President Trump is not willing to simply roll over and accept the liberals’ climate change narrative. They are astonished that after years of scare tactics and bold predictions that the world is going to come to an end, America elected a leader that cares more about the economy and American jobs than about decreasing the global temperature by point three degrees over the next century.
When President Trump announced to the country and to the world that the United States would be withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, the left went nuts. Former president Barack Obama accused Trump of “rejecting the future,” and claimed that nations that remained committed to the climate deal would “reap the benefits in jobs and industries created.” In fact, the exact opposite is true – America will be the country that reaps the benefits of a healthy economy because unlike other nations, the United States will not be faced with the daunting task of growing the economy while at the same time implementing job-destroying environmental regulations.
Furthermore, just because President Trump and others are skeptical about the so-called “climate change consensus” doesn’t mean that they reject the future, nor does it mean that they don’t care about maintaining a clean planet for future generations. Rather, it means that they are not willing to do potentially irreparable damage to the economy and surrender significant amounts of their freedom to combat something that for decades has been overhyped and exaggerated. If anything, those who reject the harmful environmental regulations are the ones creating a better future for our children and grandchildren, because they will have more jobs and more opportunities for success. It’s a shame that the left feels otherwise.
